As part of its renovations (2016-2017), the prestigious hotel Le Reine Élizabeth commissioned U.V.A  to recover silverware and other prestigious heritage materials to create an eco-artistic projetc. These recyclable artifacts made of glass, marble, metal and other, come from different parts of the hotel, including the Beaver Club and the John Lennon and Yoko Ono Suite.

A Collective of artists who have incorporated artifacts from the iconic Queen Elizabeth Hotel in Montreal - which hosted John Lennon and Yoko Ono Bed-In for Peace - into works of art. A unique chance to own a piece of world history!

At least two of the five artworks that I created with artefacts from the Reine Elizabeth Hotel will be exhibited.

Artworks still available

Explorations I
2017 – 36″ x 36″ / 91 cm x 91 cm
Arcylic, India ink, spray paint on wallpaper from the Reine Elizabeth Hotel

A tapestry with subtle opalescent reflections is the starting point of this work. These reflections, reminiscent of iridescent mother-of-pearl, are modified indefinitely according to the variations of light and are colored by tints and patterns that interact on the canvas.

Arcylic, digital printing on wallpaper and silverware tureen lids from the Reine Elizabeth Hotel on wood panel

The patina, the shape and the material of simple tureen lids conjure up everlasting memories of tenderness and reassurance. Light and paint interact with the material and the shape of the lids to create in their reflections a colorful and abstract world.
